Our Mission
What We Do:
FLAP - Fatal Light Awareness Program was developed in Toronto and is being spread across the land. We are an example of one of those groups, working specifically with the University of Toronto's Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE). Our goal is to inform people about how lights in their offices can skew a birds perception, often attracting them to the windows of the building, leading to injuries and countless deaths.
Who We Are:
The OISE FLAP team is headed by a group of students studying for their Bachelor of Education. The team consists of Raysha Charmichael, Sindy, and Michelle Attard. With the help of their Environmental Education instructor, Hilary Inwood, the team strives to spread the awareness of how buildings affect the lives of birds everyday, killing thousands upon thousands of birds as they attempt to follow their migration patterns every year.
